Sony has promised to deliver a new flagship mobile phone to compete with the likes of the Apple iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy S III.
In an interview with Financial Times Deutschland, CVP sales and marketing at Sony Mobile Communications Dennis van Schie said the manufacturer is sure of its ability to regain the ground it has lost on the smartphone giants and is confident about the impending success of its upcoming releases.
Mr van Schie revealed the new device will be unveiled at either the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas during January 2013 or at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which is taking place in February the same year.
It is anticipated that improved content integration will play a key role in Sony’s success going forward, with all of its music and video offerings likely to be available with cross-device support by the end of 2013.
In addition, Mr van Schie said Sony is planning to launch a number of new tablets in the near future, despite admitting the fierce competition in this sector makes it difficult to make money in this field.
