HP likely to release mobile phone in the future

HP is likely to release a smart phone in the future to avoid missing out on a significant segment of the market.
Meg Whitman, chief executive officer at the company, explained that while it will not be introducing a smartphone in 2013, there are plans for a device to be launched further down the line, Computer World UK reports.
Ms Whitman noted the organisation is looking into the possibility of developing a phone because the products have become the primary computing device for many individuals around the world.
She stated: “We’ve got to start thinking about what is our unique play, how do we capture this element of the personal computing market?”
It is therefore likely that HP will soon be providing every kind of computer option, with smatphones being added to its PC, laptop, hybrid PC and tablet offerings.
Ms Whitman suggested the company – which was founded in 1939 – might introduce a phone within the next five years, as failing to do so in this time could result in the firm being locked out of a large industry segment.
