Nokia announces Lumia 520 and 720 smartphones

Nokia has unveiled two new budget Windows Phone 8 handsets during a press conference at Mobile World Congress 2013.
The Lumia 520 and Lumia 720 will be added to the Finnish firm’s cheaper smartphone range, with the devices set to cost €139 (£121) and €249 respectively.
Consumers are likely to be drawn in by the Nokia Lumia 720’s innovative camera, which boasts a Carl Zeiss optic that promises bright, clear pictures both day and night. It further has a high-definition front-facing camera and can be purchased in five different colours.
Although it is on track to be released in Hong Kong, Singapore and Vietnam in the near future, the phone is not going to be launched in the UK until the second quarter of the year, which means Brits may be able to get their hands on it between April and June.
The Lumia 520 model – which has the same camera lens as Nokia’s flagship Lumia 920 handset – is also going to appear in Far East markets first, before being rolled out in Europe, while US mobile users will have longer to wait.
