Samsung has announced that the Wave II smartphone, the successor to its successful Wave mobile and also the latest phone to run its Bada operating system, will be released in the UK before the end of the year.
Unlike its predecessor which featured a Super AMOLED display, the Wave II comes with a 3.7 inch “enhanced Super Clear LCD” touchscreen which Samsung claims “provides a stunning viewing experience”.
The screen is also said to be anti-scratch, anti-smudge and anti-reflective.
The smartphone is powered by a 1GHz processor, features Samsung’s Touchwiz user interface and comes equipped with a 5-megapixel camera that can handle HD 720p video playback and recording at 30fps.
Other great features include ‘Social Hub’ which displays information from a user’s phonebook, social networks, instant messenger and email on a single page, and QuickType T9 Trace which designed to make texting faster and easier.
Simon Stanford, Managing Director of Samsung Mobile UK and Ireland, said: “Samsung’s success with the first Wave smartphone did not slow our drive to further integrate social media, rich multimedia and enhanced features, and the Wave II shows our continued commitment to delivering an innovative smartphone experience.”
The Samsung Wave II will go on sale in the UK in December. Details on carriers and pricing are yet to be announced.
