Sony Xperia U Added To Three Smartphone Range

Fans of Sony Xperia smartphones will be pleased to hear that the latest handset in the new Xperia range – the Sony Xperia U – is now available in the UK via mobile network Three.
The company has announced that customers can now pick up a 4GB model of the handset online (Three.co.uk/Store), or wait until tomorrow (May 22) to buy it in-store.
Prices start from just £15 a month on an “Essential Internet 100” plan, which offers free mobile internet with no additional data charges. Three is also offering the phone on pay as you go for £179.99.
The mobile will also be offered by O2, Orange, and T-Mobile in the coming weeks, although none of them have yet announced their official release dates.

It comes with a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, a1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, a 5MP camera with LED flash and 720p video recording, and a front-facing snapper. It also has also has a customisable design with changeable coloured caps that fit onto the base of the handset.
Software-wise, the Xperia U will ship with the outdated Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, although Sony has confirmed it will receive an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich later in the year.
